Healthcare Assistant

As a healthcare assistant, you will work with children, planning and delivering unit-specific activities and ensuring safe care and well-being. Your day-to-day tasks include assisting children with daily activities and performing various care procedures. The work is partly physically demanding and includes client transfers, assisting children, and participating in their daily care and routines. You will support the children in interaction and making their own choices, addressing individual needs and well-being, and planning meaningful activities such as crafts, play, outdoor activities, and other development-supportive actions. You will have the opportunity to use your strengths and ideas and participate in developing the activities. You guide children toward as autonomous a daily life as possible, encouraging participation in everyday tasks according to their resources. The job also includes responsibility for medication administration and working as part of a multi-professional team in line with shared plans and practices. You will help maintain a clean, safe, and functional environment together with clients and staff, and play a key collaborative role with relatives, the team, and various stakeholders to ensure smooth information flow supporting client well-being. The role emphasizes ethics, respectful treatment of clients, and supporting self-determination. The work has meaningful impact on children’s daily life, well-being and opportunities to live according to their own wishes. The position is a daytime role on weekdays, with working hours mainly between 6:30 and 17:00 in line with general working hours. Experience in disability work or developmental disabilities work, knowledge of alternative communication methods (such as support signs and picture communication), experience with children, and a hygienic certificate are considered advantageous. The eligibility requirement is a vocational qualification in social and health care (practical nurse) or an equivalent earlier qualification. Good Finnish language skills are also required.
