We are seeking an Environmental Specialist for AFRY's Environmental and Sustainability unit, focusing on Contaminated Sites and Risk Management. The role involves conducting investigations and remediation planning for contaminated soils, groundwater, and sediments, as well as supervising remediation work and environmental sampling. The position is based in our Oulu office, where a team of about ten works on projects across industrial, urban, infrastructure and energy sectors. The successful candidate will work on site investigations, risk assessments, and remediation designs, with duties including monitoring and environmental sampling.

Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations of contaminated sites (soil, groundwater, sediment) and associated remediation needs and risk assessments
- Develop remediation plans and supervise remediation activities
- Environmental sampling
- Work with a team of about 10 in Oulu on projects across industrial, urban, infrastructure and energy sectors
Requirements
- Master's degree in engineering or natural sciences (e.g., civil/environmental engineering, environmental geology, environmental ecology, soil science)
- Minimum three years of experience in contaminated soil and groundwater research and remediation projects (supervision and sampling), surface water sampling, groundwater monitoring and risk assessments related to contaminated areas
- Fluent in Finnish and English
- Willingness and ability to work in field conditions
- Basic knowledge of GIS tools such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS and QGIS
- Valid B driving license
