Doctoral Researcher

The University of Vaasa is seeking a motivated and talented Doctoral Researcher to join the Research Council of Finland-funded H2NEXUS project. The position is full-time and fixed-term for 3 years, aligned with the duration of the project. The preferred start date is September 2026. The role sits in the School of Management, Strategic Business Development research group, in Vaasa. Key responsibilities include conducting independent and collaborative research on ecosystem emergence, market shaping, and business model innovation; contributing to project activities and deliverables; data collection and validation with industry stakeholders and policy makers; leading and co-authoring high-quality publications; and supporting teaching or supervision tasks as applicable. The project investigates co-evolution of markets and energy ecosystems, focusing on hydrogen economy dynamics and related governance. Requirements include a Master’s degree in a relevant field, strong research motivation, ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams, and excellent English communication skills. Desirable: experience with qualitative or mixed methods research and stakeholder engagement. The position offers a fully funded doctoral program, access to industry data, and opportunities for collaboration across Europe. The annual working time is 1612 hours. Salary is based on the Finnish University Salary System (YPJ) and ranges roughly between 2521–3143 euros per month depending on experience.
