Job description

Senior Cloud & DevOps Engineer Data platforms. Reliable cloud. Resilient production environments. We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud & DevOps Engineer at Monad to strengthen our data, cloud and DevOps expertise in digital solutions that are critical to society. We build systems where security, reliability, long service life and careful technical thinking are essential. Our clients operate in aviation, defence, healthcare, industry and fields important to security of supply, where systems must work even when conditions are difficult. In this role, you will help plan, build and operate the technical foundations of cloud and data platforms. Your work helps applications, data flows, analytics and AI solutions, and their surrounding infrastructure, reach production in a controlled, secure and maintainable way. You are not just the “DevOps person” who gets brought in at the end. You are involved early enough for architecture, automation, security, observability and production readiness to be built into the solution from the start. Who we are looking for We are looking for an experienced professional who combines an understanding of cloud environments, DevOps practices and data platforms. You do not need to be a specialist in everything, but you should understand how to build modern systems that are reliable, repeatable, secure and maintainable. You: Plan and implement cloud infrastructure that can be maintained as code and developed in a controlled way. Build and develop CI/CD pipelines for applications, data platforms, integrations and analytics or AI components. Help bring container, API, data and analytics solutions into production with releases, rollbacks, monitoring and security properly considered. Develop observability solutions: logs, metrics, tracing, alerts, dashboards, runbooks and visibility into production environments are not side issues for you. Can communicate with developers, data specialists, architects and customers, and explain technical solutions as a clear whole. Are willing to challenge solutions constructively. You favour a sustainable and simple solution over an impressive but difficult-to-maintain workaround. Understand that in critical environments, production readiness means more than something working on your own computer or in a test environment. It must remain secure, observable, recoverable and maintainable for years to come. Technical skills We hope you have experience in several of the following areas: Cloud environments and infrastructure AWS, Azure or Google Cloud — strong practical experience with at least one. Infrastructure as Code, for example Terraform, OpenTofu, Bicep or Pulumi. Cloud networking, IAM, secrets management, environment separation and cost management. Hybrid or partly closed environments, if you have experience with them. DevOps, platform engineering and production practices CI/CD, for example GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or Jenkins. Docker and container technologies. Kubernetes, for example AKS, EKS, GKE or on-premises environments. Helm, GitOps, Argo CD, Flux or similar deployment and configuration models. Linux, scripting and automation, for example Bash, Python or PowerShell. Technical documentation, runbooks and production-environment operating models. Data platforms and DataOps Data warehouse, data lake or lakehouse solutions. Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, BigQuery or similar platforms. Airflow, Dagster, Azure Data Factory or other orchestration tools. Spark, Kafka or other data-processing and transfer technologies. SQL and at least one common programming language, for example Python or TypeScript. Fundamentals of data quality, traceability, access rights and monitoring. Observability, security and reliability Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK/OpenSearch, cloud providers’ own monitoring solutions or similar tools. Alerts, metrics, tracing, logging and service-level monitoring. DevSecOps practices, dependency management, vulnerability scanning and supply-chain security. Backups, recovery, repeatable environments and incident preparedness. You do not need to know everything above already. What matters more is that you have built production-ready solutions, understand the bigger picture and learn new tools quickly when a customer environment requires it. AI and automation are part of the work AI is not an unrelated add-on in this role, but part of modern software development, data platforms and expert work. We hope you can use AI tools sensibly to support coding, Infrastructure as Code definitions, documentation, analysis, testing or troubleshooting. You also understand that using AI in critical environments requires judgement, security awareness and the ability to assess the quality of its output. We also value experience with production environments for AI and ML solutions, for example running models in the cloud, building data flows to support models or operating GPU/accelerator environments. This is not primarily an ML Engineer role. What the role does not include This is not just a maintenance or ticket-clearing role. This is not a pure data engineer role focused only on data modelling, reporting or building individual pipelines. Nor is this a role where you will be alone in covering every DevOps need everywhere. At Monad, we work together, and we expect you to strengthen our shared expertise. What success looks like During your first months, you will get to know Monad’s approach to software development, data and AI solutions, and customer projects. You will understand our key cloud, DevOps and data-platform needs and take part in solution discussions from the design stage. By six months, you will independently advance cloud and DevOps work in customer projects. You will have improved at least one project’s production readiness, for example through CI/CD, IaC, monitoring, security, documentation or data-platform operability. By 12 months, you will be a recognised part of Monad’s data, cloud and DevOps expertise. Colleagues will ask you to join when a solution involves production environments, cloud infrastructure, a data platform, release pipelines, observability or technical reliability. You will also have shared your knowledge through coaching, reviews or Tekniikkatorstai sessions. Ways of working and quality You write code and configurations that are easy to read, review, test, maintain and develop further. You like automation, but do not blindly automate a bad process. You understand that a good cloud or DevOps solution is more than a technology stack. It reduces uncertainty, speeds up safe development and makes a system easier for the next people to understand. You enjoy working in a team that considers software development, data, usability, security and the customer’s business. Other important details A security clearance may be required for the position. We require fluent Finnish because our office life and internal communications are in Finnish. Customer work in this role is mainly in English. We hope you are willing and able to visit our Tampere office weekly. Collaboration and coaching genuinely matter to us. The role and salary The detailed content and responsibilities of the role will take shape in discussion based on your previous experience, skills and interests. Our senior professionals do not have to fit a pre-made mould; we will find a suitable way for you to take responsibility, develop and do meaningful work together. Depending on the final role and level of responsibility, the monthly salary is approximately €4,500–€6,000. We also offer you extensive benefits. Our promise At Monad, a Senior Cloud & DevOps Engineer is not left alone. You will join a community of experienced specialists in data, AI, design and software development who solve demanding problems together. You will receive support and coaching from colleagues even when decisions are not straightforward. For us, technical quality is not just a list of tools. It means being able to build solutions that stand the test of time, use, change and responsibility. Every other week we organise Tekniikkatorstai, where we share new technologies, practical lessons and proven ways of working. We believe the best results come when challenges involving software, data, cloud and production environments can be considered and solved together.
