About the role

Join us as a special educator in early childhood education on a fixed-term contract at Espoon keskuksen south service area. The contract may continue as a permanent role from 1 January 2027. Our current unit consists of Lakela day care, Ullanmäki and Koivuhovi day cares. Lakela has 5 children groups, and Ullanmäki and Koivuhovi each have 2 groups. Our day care centers are located with good transport connections in Espoo center and Koivuhovi. The work of a special education teacher in early childhood education is versatile and motivating. Observation, documentation and continuous assessment and development of activities are integral to every task. As the special education teacher, you are responsible for implementing the unit’s pedagogy together with other professionals. You will also act as the pedagogical partner to the head of the early education unit and have the opportunity to apply your strong professional skills with the whole community. The broad-based special education teacher participates in VASU and LEOPS discussions when needed, together with the early childhood educator, parents and partners. You collaborate multi-professionally on matters concerning children needing support. The virtues of leadership include listening and dialoguing, and a healthy community is our shared strength. If Finnish is your second language, you have the opportunity to participate in free Finnish language training during working hours to support your work—the early childhood education vocabulary will soon become familiar. The contract may continue as permanent from 1.1.2027. Requirements: The eligibility criteria are the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) eligibility for a Early Childhood Education teacher. Also complete studies providing professional competence for early childhood special education tasks. Alternatively Master of Educational Science with major in Special Education (early childhood special education). Applications from newly graduating special education teachers are welcome. The successful candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act 6.2 §. Tuberculosis exposure risk assessment is required for those working with under-6s.
