Director, Data Science

Director-level leadership role responsible for guiding the Data Science functional team, mentoring data scientists, setting multi-team roadmaps, and driving product and business impact through analytics, ML, and NLP initiatives. Focus areas include statistical modeling, experiment design, classifier implementation, data pipeline improvements, and privacy-conscious, evidence-driven decision making. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate direction with data and communicate tradeoffs to executives. 10+ years in data science/ML, 4+ years leading teams, and strong production-grade Python and SQL skills are required; experience with BigQuery/Clickhouse/Redshift/Druid and LLMs is preferred. The role reports to senior leadership and involves end-to-end ownership of projects within DuckDuckGo’s privacy-first product strategy. compensation is USD-denominated with equity; remote-first, with travel for all-hands and team retreats.
