Principal

Etelä-Savon Koulutus Oy is seeking a principal to lead Etelä-Savon ammattiopisto's instructional planning and implementation so that it meets the region’s and partly the nation’s needs for skilled workers. The principal will also oversee education development projects and, together with our subsidiary KasvuEsedu Oy, promote regional vitality and competitiveness. The duties are set by the Vocational Education Act (531/2017). The principal will lead six department heads who act as line managers for their own fields of study. The principal is part of the corporate executive team and reports directly to the CEO. The role is central to industry–education collaboration for the vocational college and to maintain that collaboration. The candidate must have a higher university degree and the professional secondary education teaching qualification required for principals, including a study management qualification or equivalent competence, and the pedagogical training required for vocational secondary education; pedagogical experience and strong leadership, change management, and development skills are expected. The principal must be an inspiring educator with the ability to understand complex, multi-faceted entities and to promote green transition and digitisation in vocational education. Strong personnel and financial leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills, and advanced digital skills are required. Excellent English and good Swedish are required. A six-month probation is applied. The appointee must present a medical certificate of health and a criminal record extract as required by law for working with children (504/2002).
