In January 2027, a new 7-place basic level child protection unit for 8–17-year-olds will open in Haarajoki, Järvenpää: Pienryhmäkoti Iida ja Eemeli. We are seeking a night supervisor. The position starts no later than 4 January 2027. As night supervisor you are a key part of the children’s safe daily life, responsible for their safety, wellbeing, and a calm night. You work night shifts independently and ensure that evening and morning routines, late-evening meals, night medications, and bedtime proceed safely and predictably. You will also carry out housekeeping duties that are essential to unit life, such as maintaining cleanliness, laundry, kitchen and dishwashing, and preparing the next day’s meals. In the night, you ensure that the children have a varied and healthy morning meal and that all necessary items for the night shift are ready. We value that our unit is home-like, clean and pleasant for the children. You, as night supervisor, contribute to building and maintaining this daily life. We look for you to be calm, responsible and able to work independently, with the ability to anticipate situations, make autonomous decisions and ask for help when needed. We expect good interaction and cooperation skills, independent work style, calmness in challenging situations, good documentation skills, interest in working with children and youth in educational tasks, commitment to safe, respectful and child-centered work. Knowledge of the child protection act is valued; neuropsychiatric competence is considered an asset, MAPA competence and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) knowledge are also considered beneficial. The role requires a licensed practical nurse or equivalent, at least one year of experience in child protection, a valid driving license, valid medication administration licenses or willingness to obtain them before the start, good Finnish language skills, readiness for independent night work, good oral and written Finnish, hygienic certificate; vaccination protection under the health law is required; tuberculosis screening per law also required. The position requires a criminal-record extract for working with children. The unit is a smoke-free workplace.
