Lead demanding bridge projects as part of an experienced bridge-design team.
You will work as a project manager on demanding bridge projects in Finland and internationally. You will collaborate closely with experienced bridge designers and a multidisciplinary team, lead the project on the client side and keep the overall project under control. Everyday work is straightforward, and help is readily available.
Our growth is reflected in our project portfolio and the strengthening of the team. This gives the project manager the opportunity to lead demanding bridge and special-structure projects and develop shared practices with the client, team and other parties. Our expertise is evident in numerous demanding projects in Finland and around the world, such as Kruunuvuorensilta and Chenab Bridge.
In this role, you are responsible for the project’s overall progress: leading design work, coordinating solutions and managing schedules, resources, quality, costs and risks. You ensure smooth cooperation with contractors and other stakeholders.
The role is tailored to your experience. Depending on your background, it can focus on technical project management or principal design while keeping overall project management at its core.
What you will do
As project manager, you ensure that the parties involved share an understanding of the situation and have a clear direction from objectives to feasible design solutions.
You lead bridge and special-structure design projects, independently or as part of a multidisciplinary project: you define objectives with the client and guide design work towards the agreed goals.
You keep design solutions, calculations and design documentation moving forward through the project’s different phases.
Depending on your experience, you lead or coordinate condition investigations and define repair solutions.
You lead cooperation with clients, contractors and stakeholders, and bring contributions from WSP’s other design disciplines into the project.
You develop project-management and design practices and support the team on project leadership matters.
You maintain an overview of projects, anticipate risks and ensure that decisions and next steps are clear to the client and project team.
The position is available in Helsinki, Oulu, Tampere and Lahti. You can also work flexibly in a hybrid model from other locations.
What we hope you bring
A relevant university degree, such as an MSc in Technology or an engineering degree from a university of applied sciences, or equivalent.
At least 10 years of experience in bridge design and/or special-structure design, and a track record of delivering demanding projects.
Strong project-management skills: the ability to lead design as a whole, assess alternatives and bring decisions to completion together with the project team.
Readiness to work with clients, lead stakeholder cooperation and ensure smooth collaboration in a multidisciplinary team.
Fluent spoken and written Finnish, and the ability to work in English on international projects.
Experience with demanding special structures, bridge condition inspections or repair design is an advantage.
The following qualifications are also considered an advantage, but are not essential: qualifications for very demanding or exceptionally demanding concrete and steel design, bridge inspection, and repair design.
