Food Experience Host / Hostess Do you enjoy cooking, meeting people, and sharing the flavors of Lapland with international guests? Then this role may be just right for you. Food is one of the best ways to get to know Lapland. Soul of Lapland's food experiences are built on local ingredients, Lapland's food traditions, and time spent together. For us, dining is not just part of the day's program, but an important part of the entire experience. We are now looking for a food experience host or hostess for the upcoming winter season. This role combines food preparation, customer service, and experience guiding. You will prepare food in the presence of customers, talk about the dishes and their ingredients, and ensure that the shared dining moment is relaxed and warm. In addition to cooking skills, the role requires a genuine interest in meeting people. You will chat with customers, answer their questions, and talk about the food naturally in English while preparing and serving dishes. As a food experience host or hostess, you will prepare high-quality and tasty food for small groups in various environments. Your workday may take place, for example, in a kitchen, a kota (traditional hut), by a campfire, or at other Soul of Lapland experience sites. Food is prepared in the presence of customers, for example, in the LakeLodge Kihinen kota and in the large farmhouse kitchen of the Old House. You will work independently and also handle the serving of food for smaller groups. In your work: - you prepare main courses, desserts, and other offerings part of the experiences - you utilize seasonal and local ingredients - you ensure the quality, appearance, and cost-effective preparation of the food - you tell customers about the ingredients, food traditions, and the background of the dishes - you take care of the serving and the customers' well-being - you prepare the workstation and ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment. The job also includes receiving customers, recommending and selling experiences, and working at our partners' sites. Additionally, you may capture customers' experiences with photos and short videos for their memories and for Soul of Lapland's marketing use. We hope for: - experience in chef duties and that you enjoy cooking in the presence of customers - that you enjoy being around people and have a warm customer service attitude - fluent English; other language skills are considered an advantage - interest in Lapland's food culture and local ingredients - ability to work independently and take care of the overall dining experience - that you are proactive, flexible, and solution-oriented - a valid hygiene passport. Previous experience in food service, the tourism industry, or working with international customers is considered an advantage. We also value Finnish language skills, photography and video skills, and basic IT skills. A category B driver's license is considered a strong advantage for the role. Most important to us, however, is your personality. We are looking for a person who feels at home both in the kitchen and with customers, approaches cooking with enthusiasm, and wants to share the flavors of Lapland with our guests in a warm and natural way. Salary: Salary is 16 - 20 eur/h based on skills and experience. We follow the collective agreement for tourism, catering, and leisure services in this position. The employment is fixed-term and tentatively scheduled from November to the end of March. The exact start date will be agreed upon with the selected person.
