What you will be doing: What you will be doing: The Manager, Tax will manage U.S. tax compliance, reporting, controversy, governance, and operational tax activities across Amer Sports’ U.S. operations. The role is intentionally broad across tax compliance obligations rather than limited to income tax, and will partner closely with the Global Tax Director, the Senior Indirect Tax Director, and the indirect tax team located in Poland (GBS). This role requires strong ownership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, external advisors, and teams operating in different time zones within a complex global organization undergoing significant digital transformation. Key Responsibilities: Tax Compliance & Reporting Manage U.S. tax compliance requirements across relevant federal, state, and local tax areas, including return workpapers, estimated payments, extensions, BlackLine (GL) reconciliations, and related compliance documentation. Coordinate data requests and timely delivery of information to service providers and internal stakeholders; leverage BI reporting, Alteryx, and automation tools to improve data collection, validation, and reporting. Lead nexus reviews and state tax research, evaluating the Company’s state tax footprint, coordinating with HR and Payroll, assessing filing obligations, and identifying available credits and incentives. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting state and local tax obligations. Maintain the U.S. tax compliance calendar and monitor all filing deadlines. Audits, Controversy & Tax Notices Manage federal, state, and local tax audits, notices, and controversy matters—coordinating responses, gathering documentation, maintaining audit trackers, and driving timely resolution. Partner closely with the Senior Indirect Tax Director and the indirect tax team located in Krakow, Poland on U.S. sales and use tax matters, audits, registrations, compliance initiatives, nexus evaluations, and exposure assessments. Business Registrations & Unclaimed Property Manage U.S. business registration compliance, including entity registrations, foreign qualifications, business license applications, annual reports and renewals, and good-standing requirements across all jurisdictions. Own the U.S. unclaimed property compliance process, including annual filings, due diligence, audit support, voluntary disclosure agreements, internal controls, and coordination with external advisors. Budget, Governance & Stakeholder Management Assist with U.S. tax budget management—tracking spend, monitoring external service provider engagements, reviewing invoices, and maintaining budget-to-actual visibility. Support development of SOPs, internal controls, and documentation aligned with SOX and audit requirements. Collaborate on S/4HANA implementation, tax digitalization, and other cross-functional projects, translating tax requirements into practical process and system solutions. Serve as the primary U.S. tax point of contact for Finance Controllers, GBS Krakow operational teams, the indirect tax team in Poland, and external advisors—ensuring clear communication, alignment, and accountability. Facilitate effective communication across U.S. and European time zones, ensuring timely follow-up, clear escalation, and alignment between Tax, Finance, GBS, Legal, HR, IT, and external advisors. Drive governance through strong documentation, RACI alignment, and escalation protocols. What you need to succeed: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 7+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting and/or industry. Strong U.S. tax compliance experience, with the ability to manage matters beyond income tax and coordinate effectively with indirect tax stakeholders. Solid understanding of U.S. sales and use tax concepts and ability to partner effectively with indirect tax specialists. Experience managing tax audits, notices, and controversy matters. Strong project management, analytical, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and teams (internal / external) in different time zones. What we consider a plus: CPA designation. Experience in a multinational public company environment with cross-border collaboration. Experience with SAP (ECC or S/4HANA), OneSource, Vertex, Avalara, OneStream, or similar tax technology platforms. Experience developing and documenting tax processes, internal controls, and cross-departmental operating models. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is $130,000 - $160,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, geographic location, and/or training.
