Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a full-time healthcare assistant to a permanent position at Paaskunnan assisted living unit in Turku. Paaskunta is part of the demanding care for people with disabilities, and the unit houses 15 clients. You will work as a substitute in the unit but practically your work will be the same as other healthcare assistants. Your work combines guiding approach with nursing tasks. You participate in preparing clients’ individual plans and disability services plans and contribute to a good, safe and smooth everyday life for clients. Medication administration is a central part of the task, and a unit-specific LOVE medication authorization is part of the required skills. If necessary you can obtain medication treatment licenses at the start of employment. Our team comprises 17 social and health care professionals. Paaskunta has two separate sides: communal housing and 24/7 housing. The work can be demanding at times, but is also highly rewarding and meaningful. There is some risk of violence, but it is minor. Every employee completes Avekki training to support safe work in various client situations. A shift typically employs 3–5 staff, and clients usually participate in daytime activities. The healthcare assistant mainly works three shifts, with night shifts averaging 2–3 per three weeks; night shifts are worked alone. Licenses can also be obtained at the start of employment if needed. We value good collaboration skills, Avekki training, ability to work in demanding client situations, already completed LOVE authorization and experience with intellectual disability work. Qualifications: social and health care vocational qualification (lähihoitaja) or a previous qualification at a similar level.
