About the role

We are seeking a teaching nurse for a permanent position on the Department of Pulmonary and Esophageal Surgery. As a teaching nurse you act as an expert in nursing education, skill development and supervision, with a central role in supporting staff professional growth. Our 24-bed department treats demanding specialized care patients who undergo elective and emergency surgeries, with care episodes often including intensive monitoring and advanced nursing tasks. The unit emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration and patient-centred care, working closely with surgeons, physiotherapists, dietitians and other care professionals to ensure safe, high-quality care throughout the care pathway. Your duties include planning, implementing and developing nursing orientation, evaluating staff competencies and identifying development needs, designing, implementing and evaluating trainings, promoting evidence-based practice, participating in development and research activities, and collaborating with educational institutions and internal/external networks. The role requires the ability to combine pedagogical and clinical competencies and to be present and approachable as a clinical expert in everyday nursing. You will also participate in clinical patient care in cooperation with the nursing team. We expect you to have experience in clinical nursing in specialized care, the ability to assess staff competence and develop trainings, the ability to promote evidence-based practices, good collaboration and mentoring skills, and a proactive, development-oriented work approach. We value experience in staff development and onboarding coordination, and experience in promoting evidence-based practice within multidisciplinary collaboration. We offer a meaningful role in developing nursing competence, a supportive and expert work community, opportunities to influence the quality of nursing care and practices, good training and development opportunities and diverse staff benefits. Salary is determined according to the Social and Health Care Agreement and may include experience or other allowances. Apply by the deadline and describe your competencies comprehensively. You will be part of the most impactful care at HUS. Qualifications include a licensed health care professional, a suitable higher university degree with relevant experience or a lower university degree supplemented by suitable studies and experience as a teaching nurse, or a polytechnic degree with suitable studies and experience. Proficiency in Finnish is required for spoken and written communication and Swedish proficiency is required or, alternatively, good Swedish and adequate Finnish skills.
