We are seeking a fire chief for a permanent public-service position at the Kiuruvesi fire station of the Pohjois-Savo Rescue Department. The work begins on 1 January 2027 or by agreement. As fire chief, you will act as a rescue authority and perform on-call fire chief duties. You will be responsible for the operations of the Kiuruvesi and Vieremä fire stations and participate in accident prevention, risk management, safety management, analysis of the operating environment, rescue operations, fire investigation, preparedness and civil-protection duties. Your work may also include internal mobility within the rescue department’s area of operation. What do we offer? The salary is €3,916.94 per month in accordance with the HYVTES agreement. Working time is the general working-time arrangement under HYVTES, 38.25 hours per week. The position includes a duty to participate in standby duty when necessary. Could you be the fire chief we are looking for? Eligibility for the position requires the senior officer qualification specified in section 57 of the Rescue Act (379/2011) and section 6 of Government Decree on Rescue Services (407/2011), adequate knowledge of the rescue sector and work experience in leading rescue operations, a basic personnel security clearance under the Security Clearance Act (726/2014), and a valid category B driving licence at minimum. Previous experience as an on-call fire chief, in rescue-service supervisory duties, safety communications or fire inspections, and further training in the rescue field are considered advantages. We expect strong leadership, teamwork and interaction skills, an innovative and developmental approach, and the ability to work independently. Other information Before the appointment is confirmed, the selected candidate must provide proof of the qualifications required for the position, a drug-test result and a medical certificate of health. The selected candidate must also consent to a security clearance being requested before the position is filled and must be found suitable for the position on the basis of that clearance. The position has a six-month probationary period. Pohjois-Savo Wellbeing Services County follows section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and recommends the corresponding vaccination protection for employees working in customer-facing duties.
