We are seeking a creative and development‑oriented librarian to oversee the municipal library services in Konnevesi from 1 January 2027. The librarian is responsible for the comprehensive development, operation and finances of library services. Duties include library administration, event activities, work with children and youth libraries, collection work with acquisitions, and serving as a supervisor to a library officer. The librarian also participates in customer service. The job is independent and responsible, and you will have influence over your own job description. We require experience in library administration tasks and a proactive, independent work approach. In addition, good cooperation and communication skills, customer-service mindset and decision-making ability are required. Prior supervisory experience and training are an asset. We value experience in supervisory work, good networking and presentation skills, and knowledge of literature. In addition to collection work, information and guidance skills, we value interest in developing library event activities. Previous experience with projects is a plus. In a small library you will have a chance to implement your ideas and work on a variety of library tasks. We are part of Keski-kirjastot and use the Aurora library system, knowledge of which is a plus. The eligibility criteria for the position include a suitable higher university degree and strong familiarity with library tasks and operations (Laki yleisistä kirjastoista 1492/2016). The applicant must have completed at least 60 credits (35 ECTS) in library and information studies. The role requires initiative, good collaboration and interaction skills, and up-to-date communication skills. The job includes evening and occasional weekend work and solitary work. Salary and terms follow the current KVTES. Working hours are 36.25 h/week. Before taking up the post, the appointee must present a medical certificate of health. The position includes a six‑month probationary period. Interviews are scheduled for 8 October 2026.
