Remedy Entertainment, the creator of Control®, Max Payne®, Alan Wake®, and one of the leading independent game studios in the world, is looking for a Technical Music Designer to craft interactive music experiences for the next generation of games. For the role of Technical Music Designer at Remedy, we are looking for someone passionate about music that responds and adapts to gameplay, and about building the systems that bring a score to life. You will work at the cutting edge of music in games and develop systems that carry our composers' work into the game. In this position you would work cross disciplinary and collaborate closely with composers and audio designers to turn musical deliveries into dynamic, reactive in-game experiences that serve the game vision. This role focuses on the technical implementation of music rather than composing the music itself. We enthusiastically welcome diverse viewpoints and backgrounds. We at Remedy value and are committed to ensuring an inclusive and safe work environment for all our team members. WHAT YOU GET TO DO - You will be using Wwise to design and implement interactive music systems, supporting dynamic, player-reactive scoring. - You will be part of defining the music implementation direction and tooling together with creative and technical stakeholders. - You will be responsible for taking a composer's vision and translating it into a dynamic, gameplay-reactive audio system. - Assist with polishing, bug fixing and performance optimization efforts. - Ensure that consistent communication is maintained to guarantee the quality of the game. - Provide accurate time estimates for tasks and ensure you meet production deadlines. - Support and mentor other members of the team, helping them to improve and grow. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE - You are highly experienced in game development, and you have at least one shipped AAA title under your belt. - You have demonstrated experience implementing music systems in video games. - You are knowledgeable of industry standard DAWs – REAPER, Pro Tools, Nuendo etc. - You have expertise in audio middleware, such as Wwise, FMOD, etc. - You have solid programming skills, such as Lua, C#, and Python. - You understand how music functions in both linear and non-linear environments, and how systems can be built to serve both. - You are solution-oriented with great problem-solving skills. - You thrive working in a team environment, sharing ideas and learning from others. You are used to collaborating with colleagues across different departments and you are able to communicate and present your ideas in a clear and coherent way. As a team member you are dedicated contributing towards a positive, friendly and inclusive work environment. You can also work independently, being organized and able to document your work. Knowledge of music licensing and rights management is a plus. WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? - At Remedy, you get to work on awesome, memorable gaming experiences for our players in a studio where your input is valued, and your creative freedom is encouraged. - We offer a collaborative environment that values both individual and teamwork, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard and workloads stay manageable. We believe in and support work-life balance — happy people work better! - We offer an extensive set of employee benefits and an annual bonus system as well as opportunities for you to develop your skills further. On top of this, in Finland and Sweden you get up to 5 weeks of paid vacation, in addition to public holidays and other special occasions. - We have two offices, one in Finland, in the Helsinki metropolitan area, and one in Stockholm, Sweden. Both locations are well known for their exceptional quality of life, free education and pristine nature at your doorstep. This position is for either our Espoo or Stockholm Office. - If needed, we offer relocation support to help you with the move. Our relocation package also includes a relocation allowance, determined based on location and individual circumstances, so you can focus on your work while we support your transition. - Our studio is embracing a hybrid work model that gives you the flexibility to work from home and have valuable face-to-face time with your colleagues. To apply, please fill in the application form with your CV (in English), work references/portfolio and other information relevant to the position. This position will be filled as soon as suitable applicants are found.
