We are also committed to doing our share in solving the climate challenge by determinedly following our science-based pathway to decarbonize our operations. We find meaning in our purpose: With our heart in Finland, we make every journey better, today and tomorrow. Our values — Always Safe, Customer at Heart and Stronger Together — guide us in everything we do. The role combines strong data science expertise with an interest in software development. Our data science solutions are developed with production use in mind, which means attention to code quality, testing, maintainability, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with operational stakeholders, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Software Developers, architects, and other Digital teams to understand business needs and develop reliable analytical and AI-driven solutions for an operationally critical environment. Contribute to MLOps practices, including model deployment, monitoring, observability, and continuous improvement. Ensure high standards for data quality, model validation, governance, and responsible use of AI. Communicate findings, model outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. Support the continuous improvement of data science, AI, optimization, software development, and MLOps practices within Intelligent Operations. Our expectations Master’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Econometrics, Operations Research, or another relevant quantitative field. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, operations research, or a similar analytical role. Strong Python programming skills, good understanding of statistics, probability, optimization, and machine learning methods, and experience developing analytical, machine learning, or optimization solutions for real-world business problems. Interest in software development and production-ready data science solutions, with familiarity in practices such as version control, testing, code quality, CI/CD, test-driven development, model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management. Ability to assess data quality, validate analytical outputs, and apply responsible AI principles such as transparency, validation, and governance. Practical problem-solving mindset and ability to communicate findings, model outcomes, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and business stakeholders. Experience with cloud-based development, preferably AWS, aviation, airline operations, or another operationally critical environment is considered an advantage. Fluency in English is required. Finnish language skills are considered an advantage. Working at Finnair We offer you an exciting opportunity in the multifaceted and fast-changing aviation and travel industry, along with a great team and wide personal development opportunities.
