We also oversee wilderness patrols on state lands. We have implemented a broad digital transformation focusing on value streams, customer orientation, and data. A significant part of our renewal is the ongoing overhaul of our information system infrastructure, which is currently being implemented. We are now seeking an experienced GIS development expert for a permanent position in the Digital and Customer Experience unit, starting from June 1, 2026, or by agreement, location negotiable. You will work as part of a team responsible for managing, developing, and supporting the use of spatial data systems for Nature Services. The systems support the establishment, management, planning, and monitoring of protected areas, Natura sites, and private conservation areas. You will focus on protected area data, establishing protected areas, and land use systems involving GIS. You will ensure system continuity and enable customer-oriented development based on user feedback. You will collaborate closely with Metsähallitus, Centres for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment, the Permit and Inspection Agency, and the Ministry of the Environment. Success requires a relevant higher university degree in IT, natural sciences, or geoinformatics, and experience in system development. Experience in managing spatial data and GIS development is valued. Knowledge of databases and spatial data products is necessary. Experience in establishing private conservation areas, compensation related to conservation decisions, land acquisitions for state protected areas, and management transfers is a plus. Fluency in Finnish and English is required. You are proactive, solution-oriented, and possess good collaboration and interaction skills. You have experience in agile, customer-driven development, actively listen, understand operational needs, and bring a customer perspective to development. You communicate clearly, raise issues, and can solve challenges through discussion. You work well both independently and in a team, producing tangible results.
