Loviisa is a charming maritime bilingual city characterized by small-town idyll. The municipality's 12 primary schools and two high schools have about 150 teachers and 70 school assistants. The largest school in Loviisa, Harjurinne School, has approximately 550 students, including preschool, grades 1-9, and special classes. The number of students in the special class is about 90. We are seeking a special class teacher for the demanding support special class starting from 1.8.2026. The teaching method is activity-area-based instruction, where each student has personal support from a school assistant. The goal of activity-area-based instruction is to provide students with knowledge and skills to operate as independently as possible in their lives. The planning of education is based on the student's strengths. The teaching obligation for the position is 22 hours per week. As a demanding support special class teacher, you are tolerant, consistent, calm, and flexible. Experience working with students requiring demanding special support is an advantage. Alternative communication methods such as sign language and picture communication are also used in teaching.
