We are seeking a doctor interested in youth mental health and substance abuse work for a permanent position at the Central Finland Wellbeing Services County. We offer opportunities to work in developing youth services, with flexible working hours and partial remote work. The work is during office hours and does not include evening or weekend shifts. In the work community, you will receive comprehensive orientation, regular supervision, and daytime work without evening or night shifts. Additionally, a training doctor with a close supervision qualification is available in the unit. We provide guidance, for example, to doctors in the YEK phase and those specializing in general medicine or psychiatry. Work in the unit can be approved as part of specialization training (3 months); approval is confirmed by your university. Doctor supervision is organized regularly as part of work support and professional development. The Central Finland Wellbeing Services County emphasizes support and treatment for children and youth mental health and substance abuse in basic level services. Multidisciplinary youth mental health and substance abuse treatment teams operate across Central Finland. Your workplace is located in Jyväskylä. There is room to negotiate the location within the Central Finland youth mental health teams area. The doctor’s work will be utilized as much as possible across all treatment teams in the region, partly also via remote consultations. The doctor’s work focuses on the investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of mild to moderate mood and substance use disorders. The doctor acts as an expert in their field within the team. Key tasks include bringing a medical perspective to treatment processes, diagnosis, prescribing medication, preparing treatment plans and referrals, and consulting. The work is family- and network-centered. No referral is needed to access the team. The activity is strongly based on multidisciplinary teamwork. You will be part of the region’s multidisciplinary teams for mental health and substance abuse work, working with psychologists, nurses, public health nurses, social workers, social pedagogues, and occupational therapists. Teams have weekly consultation arrangements with specialized healthcare and flexible consultation and collaboration practices across the wellbeing area. Close teamwork and continuous development are part of daily work. The service unit also employs other salaried doctors. Our goal is to build a collegial working community for doctors. Qualifications for the position include a licensed doctor in Finland. Experience working with children, youth, and families, a multidisciplinary approach, and family-centered research and care are considered advantages. Experience and training related to youth mental health and substance abuse issues or additional training supporting the role are also valued. Terms of employment are governed by the doctors’ collective agreement. The position includes a probationary period, and the appointee must provide a health statement. The ability to work in accordance with the Infectious Diseases Act §48 (chickenpox and measles) is required. The employer will determine the need for influenza and pertussis vaccinations.
