Join our community-oriented early childhood education unit Muksulaakso-Pacius as a special teacher in early childhood education! You will be an expert in special pedagogy and support matters within our unit. Our operation is based on positive pedagogy and strength-based early childhood education (Huomaa hyvä! and MiniVerso) as well as solution-focused approaches. In your role, you will act as an expert in special pedagogy and support matters in early childhood education. You will work in different groups according to children's support needs. Your tasks include consulting teams on support planning and assessment, as well as multidisciplinary collaboration with other staff. You will also work closely with the daycare director and deputy director. We encourage you to develop yourself pedagogically through various trainings and collegial support. You will be responsible, together with other staff, for planning activities, observing children's support needs, guiding and supporting children in early childhood education and preschool, and creating a pedagogically appropriate culture and learning environment. The activities are based on the Helsinki early childhood education and preschool curriculum, the unit’s operational plan, and the child's Vasu and Leops plans. Why work with us? Qualification requirements: You must have the qualification according to the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transitional provision (75 §) for the role of early childhood education teacher, plus completed professional studies in special education as prescribed by government regulation; or a master's degree in education with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education). Recognition of foreign qualifications by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, you must have good spoken and written Finnish skills. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for working with children under school age will be checked (Tartuntatautilaki § 55). When starting a permanent position as a special teacher in Helsinki in 2026, we will offer a 2000 euro incentive bonus. The bonus is paid only once to the same person.
