Mikkeli City is hiring a part-time (50%) fixed-term special education teacher for early childhood education from August 3, 2026, to March 31, 2027. The position is located at Kattilansilta Daycare. Kattilansilta Daycare has six children’s groups. In the under 3-year-old group, there is one early childhood education teacher and two early childhood educators. In the over 3-year-old group, there are two early childhood education teachers and one child carer. The daycare also has a supported 3-5-year-old group, with two early childhood education teachers and two child carers. Kattilansilta Daycare also operates a supported preschool group, with a special education teacher, preschool teacher, social pedagogue, and child carer. Next autumn, a pilot group called Metsäeskari will start. You can learn more about the daycare at https://www.oppiminen.mikkeli.fi/ As a special education teacher in early childhood education, you will serve as an expert in special pedagogy, supporting children’s growth and learning tasks. You will plan support for children in need of assistance in collaboration with guardians, staff, and multidisciplinary professionals. The position requires good interaction, teamwork, and collaboration skills with staff, families, psychologists, therapists, social workers, and teachers. You should also have an independent work approach, organizational skills, a positive attitude, expertise in special support, and knowledge of the early childhood education support process. You will receive support from supervisors, colleagues, and the special early childhood education coordinator. The job includes working with children and guiding staff. The special education teacher is responsible, together with the daycare director, for maintaining and developing the unit’s early childhood special education. Qualifications required are in accordance with the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act, sections 30 or 75 transitional provisions. The average working hours are 38.25 hours per week, every other week. The salary is proportional to working hours (50%), amounting to €1619.05/month (full-time €3238.10/month).
