We are looking for a school sports instructor for Kajaani city during the period starting 13 August 2026 or by agreement until 30 June 2027, as part of the Kajaani Let's Go and Move! development project. The instructor develops the physical activity culture in middle schools and initiates sports counseling for middle school students. The task is located within Kajaani's basic education unit and targets high and combined schools in Kajaani (a total of four schools). You will work as part of the daily life of high school students in cooperation with school staff. The main goal is to increase students' movement, especially support less active youth, and strengthen opportunities for movement during the school day. Your duties include starting and implementing sports counseling (school-PT activities), individual and small group guidance, guiding students to movement and hobbies, developing and planning recess activities, developing and evaluating the school's physical activity culture, supporting teachers in implementing active teaching methods, and participating in planning school sports events and increasing student participation. Additionally, you will participate in the development of the Move! process and in multidisciplinary cooperation with school health services, sports results unit, and other actors. We require relevant education (e.g., vocational or higher education in sports or other suitable education), a driving license, and the possibility to use your own car. Fluent oral and written Finnish is essential for performing the task. Experience working with children and youth, sports counseling, well-being promotion, and experience in school environment and project or development tasks are advantageous. We value the ability to meet students who move little and support them individually, an inspiring, proactive, developmental, and responsible work attitude, good cooperation and communication skills, experience in group activities and event planning, and skills in enhancing participation (e.g., involving youth in planning). Working hours are 38.25 hours/week. The salary is according to KVTES, level salary 2,616.01 € / month.
