Component Sourcing Manager, ABB, Vaasa/etätyö - Academic Work

We are seeking a Component Sourcing Manager for our client ABB's Distribution Solutions procurement team in a brand new role. Due to rapid business growth and global challenges in the component markets, your role will be central: ensuring production continuity by managing the availability of electronic components throughout the supply chain. The work can be performed flexibly from anywhere in Finland, but the team is located in Vaasa. To ensure smooth collaboration, the role requires occasional on-site presence in Vaasa (approximately once a month). Work Tasks You will work within the procurement team at the interface of operational purchasing and strategic procurement. Your daily tasks include coordinating a broad international stakeholder network, including suppliers, distributors, component brokers, product development experts, and contract manufacturers. The role is very practical: you will be in daily contact with various actors, resolving component shortages, and ensuring uninterrupted production. - Procurement of electronic components from international markets and suppliers - Exploring alternative component solutions in collaboration with product development - Accelerating component deliveries and managing supplier relationships to minimize availability issues - Making direct purchases and managing inventory of critical components to meet production needs - Supporting and maintaining warehouse and SAP system processes We are looking for - Suitable educational background (e.g., engineering, supply chain management, or business) - Excellent spoken and written English skills - Experience with procurement tools (e.g., Excel and SAP) Additionally, experience in one of the following areas is required: Technical / Electronics background: - Understanding of electronic components and their applications - Basic knowledge of how the component market and procurement work OR commercial / procurement background: - Solid experience in purchasing or procurement roles - Experience in supplier collaboration and managing component availability Proficiency in Finnish is considered an advantage.
