We are seeking a student counselor for Saarnilaakson School in Espoo for the 2026-2027 school year, on a fixed-term basis. Your duties will include a variety of tasks related to student guidance in the comprehensive school, grades 7-9. These tasks include conducting lessons, providing personal guidance, advising on further studies, work skills, and TET (work experience), as well as participating in the school's community-based student welfare work. At Saarnilaakson School, you will have the opportunity to plan and implement student guidance as part of the student guidance team. We hope to find a team player who collaborates well with school staff, students, and their families. Saarnilaakson School is a multicultural lower secondary school located near Espoo city center. The school has approximately 450 students and about 55 staff members, including teachers and other personnel. In addition to teaching and upbringing, the school emphasizes good behavior, interaction skills, and information technology. The school offers instruction in an information technology-focused class. Salary: According to OVTES, based on the pay scale https://www.kt.fi/sopimukset/ovtes/palkat-palkkiot. Qualifications: Qualification as a teacher of student guidance in basic education. Teacher qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel no 986/98. According to section 9 of the decree, a teacher providing basic education must have excellent oral and written skills in Finnish. We also consider non-qualified applicants for fixed-term positions. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as specified in the Criminal Records Act section 6.2. We value previous experience in diverse student guidance in a multicultural lower secondary school, as well as experience in working with different learners and families. We also appreciate experience in participating in the community well-being work of the educational institution.
