We are now seeking a University Teacher in the Department of Environmental and Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Technology, for a fixed-term position from September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2031. The research unit focuses on environmentally friendly and sustainable materials, unit operations, and production processes, with core areas including catalysis, separation processes, modeling, and sustainable unit process design. The role involves teaching at bachelor’s and master’s levels in environmental and process engineering programs and the NJIT-Oulu School Environmental Engineering bachelor’s program. The work requires regular international travel. About 40% of the work time is dedicated to research, conducting high-level scientific research. Teaching is conducted in English, including courses like Introduction to Circular Economy and Air Pollution Control Engineering - Practical Solutions, as well as in Finnish, such as Fundamentals of Air Pollution Control Engineering. Supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses is part of the role. The research topic will be agreed upon, possibly related to chemical utilization of carbon dioxide or hydrogen production. The candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary research group developing the unit’s research and projects. Requirements include a higher university degree in environmental or process engineering, good teaching skills, readiness for scientific work, willingness to develop pedagogical skills, interest in circular economy, emission purification, CO2 utilization, and hydrogen production, proficiency with environmental and process engineering design tools and software, good communication skills, and fluent Finnish and English. The university’s qualification requirements include a higher university degree, good teaching skills (minimum grade “good” in teaching), and readiness for scientific work. The position is fixed-term starting September 1, 2026, with a salary typically between 3,600 and 4,300 EUR/month, and a six-month trial period.
