We are seeking an anesthesiologist or anesthesiologist and intensive care specialist for the anesthesia and surgical unit at Siltasairaala. The position is shared by HUS's Surgery and Intensive Care Center, with the current placement at the anesthesia and surgical unit of Siltasairaala in Meilahti. The duty area covers the Helsinki metropolitan area. The start date is September 1, 2026, or as agreed. New appointments will follow a maximum six-month probation period. Siltasairaala's anesthesia and surgical unit Siltasairaala has 16 operating rooms performing neurosurgical, trauma, orthopedic, and hand surgery procedures, as well as plastic, maxillofacial, and ENT surgeries during on-call hours. Currently, anesthesia services are also provided for ECT procedures at the Psychiatric Center. The anesthesiologist's duties include anesthesia, pain relief, sedation, and cannulation procedures in the recovery room and outside the operating unit. The position involves on-call duties, primarily on-site or informal on-call at the Siltasairaalan surgical unit. There is also an opportunity to be on call at other HUS's Surgery and Intensive Care Center emergency sites. What do we offer? The successful candidate should have good interaction and collaboration skills with different professional groups (e.g., surgeons and nursing staff). Familiarity with anesthesia provided in Siltasairaala's surgical unit is essential. We also value proactive involvement in teaching, development, and research activities. As HUS is a teaching hospital, teaching duties are part of the role. Additional qualifications that are considered an advantage include diverse clinical experience with various types of anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, and additional training and experience in orthopedic, trauma, neurosurgical, and plastic surgical anesthesia. Qualifications for the position: Specialist qualification in a relevant medical field and licensed to practice medicine or authorized to work as a doctor. The relevant specialty for this position is anesthesiology or anesthesiology and intensive care. Language requirements include good oral and written skills in Finnish and satisfactory skills in Swedish, or good oral and written skills in Swedish and satisfactory skills in Finnish. Applicants working in patient and customer areas must have vaccination protection according to infectious disease law, and those working in healthcare units must provide a health status report regarding tuberculosis.
