We are seeking a full-time vocational teacher for the Valkeakoski Vocational College in the field of mechanical and production engineering, for a permanent position starting from August 1, 2026. The duties of a full-time vocational teacher include teaching and guiding parts of the basic qualification in mechanical and production engineering (machining) and the vocational qualification in production technology. Key responsibilities also include personalizing studies, acting as a mentor, and planning and developing teaching and training in collaboration with the mechanical and production engineering team. The role involves guiding workplace-based skill acquisition, planning and assessing demonstrations, and maintaining contact with companies in the Pirkanmaa region. As a teacher, you are interested in individual learning needs of students and have the ability to support and guide students with different learning readiness to achieve their goals. You have an active, inspiring, and developmental approach to teaching and a desire to share your expertise. The qualification requirement for the position is based on the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (A 986/1998, Section 13; amended 1150/2017) for vocational teachers. Eligible applicants must have: - a suitable higher education degree and at least three years of practical work experience in similar teaching roles, or - a specialized vocational qualification and at least five years of practical work experience in similar teaching roles. Additionally, applicants must have completed at least 60 ECTS credits or 35 study weeks of pedagogical studies for teachers. If you have not yet completed pedagogical studies, we can support you in completing them. You may apply even if you do not meet all the qualification requirements. If lacking the qualification, the position can be filled on a fixed-term basis. The teaching position, as determined by the educational provider, requires strong and up-to-date practical experience and skills in CNC machining, CAD/CAM software, 3D modeling, and a category B driving license.
