For families with children, the city is a safe place to live with well-maintained basic services. We are seeking a special education teacher for early childhood education for the City of Raahe. The position is permanent, starting from August 1, 2026, and is based at Lybeckerinpuisto Daycare (a shift-care unit where the special education teacher primarily works day shifts). We offer an interesting role in a development-oriented environment and the opportunity to participate in reforming the development, learning support, and early childhood education in Raahe. WORK DESCRIPTION Upon starting, you will work as a special education teacher at Lybeckerinpuisto Daycare, collaborating with early childhood education staff on support matters. You will also operate within multidisciplinary networks and serve as a special pedagogical expert supporting your team in matters related to children's development and learning support. You will participate in teaching, guidance, and educational activities in children’s groups according to a shared plan. You are familiar with the fundamentals of the early childhood education curriculum and the changes brought by the reform of learning support in early childhood education. Your approach reflects inclusive principles that promote children’s participation and learning, addressing the diverse needs of all children. You will work closely with the daycare director to support pedagogical leadership. EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP The terms of employment are governed by the municipal collective agreement for education personnel (OVTES). The probation period is six (6) months. A medical certificate of health is also required. WE EXPECT FROM YOU You have a good command of the early childhood education curriculum and pedagogical activities based on it, with a focus on planning and strong professional expertise in special education. You are familiar with the reform of early childhood education support and can identify the needs for support coordination during the transition between early childhood education and preschool education. Your working style is responsible, and you can guide and consult other staff with your special pedagogical knowledge. You are a team player, capable of planning and teaching flexibly within various teams and work communities. You are self-motivated, proactive, and seek research-based information to support your work. You actively look for solutions to implement support for children and modify learning environments to ensure high-quality education. Every employee is also expected to promote a well-functioning, cooperative, and flexible work community.
