Pattasten and Jokela schools are jointly seeking a temporary Special Class Teacher for the period from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. Job Description We are looking for a primary education special class teacher responsible for implementing group and individual support measures and teaching a limited curriculum at Jokela and Pattasten schools. The position is 40% at Pattasten School and 60% at Jokela School. We seek an active professional passionate about special education, with a positive approach. Qualifications Applicants must have knowledge of the national curriculum, primary education curricula, and teaching methods, as well as the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team. Good collaboration skills, student-centered approach, flexibility, and solution-oriented work attitude are valued. Interest in developing special education and motivation to support learning, as well as participation in planning support measures, are important. A good overall understanding of learning support structures and diverse pedagogical skills are also desired. The role requires the ability to work in small groups and as a co-teacher in general education classes. Selection will emphasize experience, written application, and especially the candidate’s special pedagogical expertise and understanding of flexible support arrangements. Eligibility Eligibility requirements are based on the decree on qualifications for teaching staff (986/1998). If no qualified applicants are available, the position may be filled by a person without the required degree. Original certificates proving eligibility must be presented during the interview. Employment Terms Salary and working conditions are governed by the Local Government Collective Agreement for Teaching Staff (OVTES). The basic salary for teachers in Raahe exceeds the scale specified in OVTES. The selected candidate must provide a health certificate and a criminal background check related to work with children, issued within the last six months, within 30 days of the decision. A trial period of up to half the employment duration is used for temporary positions.
