Jobbeskrivning

A unique job unlike any other – come work at Lapland airports! Ivalo Airport is the northernmost airport in the EU, handling tens of thousands of travelers annually, especially during the winter season when Saariselkä's slopes, mountain scenery, and northern lights attract visitors from across Europe. The airport is located in the heart of Lapland's tranquility, but during the season, its pace is anything but slow. The stunning mountain scenery, northern peace, and the glow of the northern lights create a unique environment for both work and leisure. You will be part of a close-knit team performing meaningful and practical work at the center of air traffic, while enjoying the unique atmosphere of the northern nature. As a forklift operator, you will be responsible for unloading and loading aircraft, and participating in various stages of aircraft turnaround processes. Daily tasks may also include driving stairs and operating other ground support equipment. Key responsibilities include: - Ensuring aircraft depart safely and on schedule, adhering to aviation regulations even under pressure. - Being proactive and action-oriented, working efficiently regardless of weather conditions. - Maintaining a relaxed work environment that is pleasant to work in. We are proud of our team and our spirit – it’s easy to join! No prior experience in aviation is required – we will train you for your tasks! Training sessions will be held in Ivalo from November 4th to 6th. The three-day basic course is unpaid but will prepare you for work in air traffic. After the basic course, a practical orientation period will follow, during which you will learn on-the-job. Would you like to develop your skills alongside seasonal work? In collaboration with REU, we offer the opportunity to complete parts of a qualification through apprenticeship while working seasonally. The forklift tasks include completing the Ground Handling Services (35 credits) component of the qualification. Read more about the opportunities on our website. Please indicate your interest in your application! We hope you will enjoy working with us and that our journey together will continue with exciting roles in the aviation industry. Requirements for applicants: - At least 18 years old - Clean criminal background (a basic security clearance will be conducted) - At least a B driving license - Proficiency in Finnish and English (training is in Finnish, and English is the general language of aviation) - Good physical condition (work may involve awkward positions) The law on the protection of privacy in working life applies to this position. A negative drug test is required as part of the employment health check. Aircraft loading can be hectic and involves shift work. Success in this role requires resilience, flexibility, and reliability. The work is irregular shift work, and you must be able to travel to the airport early mornings and evenings. Ivalo Airport has limited public transportation, so a personal vehicle or other means of transportation is necessary. Employment contracts start from November 9th and continue until February-March 2027. Contracts can be for the entire season or shorter periods if preferred. The busiest season is in December, when the airport operates at peak capacity. In spring, flight numbers stabilize, and work shifts mainly occur on weekends, offering flexibility to combine work and leisure during weekdays. We offer a supportive community of aviation professionals who encourage each other and work together to provide the best travel experience for our customers. We follow the collective agreement for air traffic services in our compensation. Forklift Operator: starting from €2205.06/month + additional pay according to the collective agreement, typically totaling €300-600/month depending on shifts. If you are interested, please fill out the online application form by July 26, 2026. For more information, contact Jukka Arponen at jukka.arponen@rtggh.fi.
