We are hiring employees for various lengths of summer substitutes in the food services of the South Ostrobothnia Wellbeing Services Area from May 1 to September 30, 2026. The food services in the South Ostrobothnia Wellbeing Services Area operate in eight production kitchens and 20 distribution/service kitchens in the following municipalities: Alajärvi, Alavus, Evijärvi, Ilmajoki, Isokyrö, Kauhajoki, Kauhava, Kurikka, Lapua, Seinäjoki, Teuva, and Vimpeli. Within these municipalities, there are additional kitchens in Jalasjärvi, Kortesjärvi, Lehtimäki, Töysä, Ylihärmä, and Ylistaro. Applicants are sought for a wide range of roles, including cooks and food service workers. Tasks include preparing and distributing breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, evening snacks, and salads; dishwashing; receiving and storing supplies; collecting intermediate products; and packing meals for home delivery. Tasks vary depending on the work station. Working hours differ by municipality and kitchen, but generally meals are prepared every day of the year in morning and afternoon shifts. Shifts start as early as 5:30 AM and can extend until 7:00 PM. Weekend work allows for weekday free days, and various shifts provide mornings and evenings off. Success in food service roles requires a service-oriented attitude, initiative, flexibility, and a positive approach to work quality and skill development. Work is team-based, requiring good cooperation and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently. Qualifications include suitable education in hospitality, catering, or food industry. Students in related fields are also considered. Some tasks can be performed without formal training. A hygiene passport is required. Terms of employment and salary are determined according to the applicable collective agreement. The area is a smoke-free workplace.
