We are looking for a special education teacher for our mova group at Viskuri Daycare in Ylä-Malmi. The group Ohrat consists of six children with special needs. You will work alongside a guidance counselor for children with developmental disabilities, two caregivers for children with developmental disabilities, and an early childhood education assistant. We value sensitive interaction, respecting each child's individuality, good communication, collaboration, and a functional work community and team. The Ohrat group has excellent and functional facilities, with ergonomic considerations for staff using various aids. You will be part of a cheerful work community with friendly colleagues. All employees with the required qualifications will receive a regional equality supplement of 150€/month until 31.10.2026 to prevent regional inequality in early childhood education. Your responsibilities include planning activities with other staff, observing children's support needs, guiding and supporting children in early childhood education and pre-primary education, and creating a pedagogically appropriate activity culture and learning environment tailored to each child's needs, supporting individual learning. The activities are based on the Helsinki early childhood education and pre-primary education plan, the early childhood education unit’s operational plan, and the child's Vasu and Leops. Qualifications: You must have a qualification according to the Finnish Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transitional provision (75 §) for the role of early childhood education teacher, supplemented with studies providing professional skills for special education, as specified by government regulation; or a master's degree in education with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education). Recognition of foreign qualifications by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. You must have good oral and written skills in Finnish. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis certificate for working with children under school age will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). Upon starting a permanent employment as a special education teacher with the City of Helsinki in 2026, you will receive a one-time bonus of 2000 euros. The bonus is paid only once to the same person.
