Special Education Teacher, Northern Area - Oulun kaupunki - Uleåborg, Finland

The Education and Cultural Services of the City of Oulu are seeking a TEMPORARY SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER for the 2026-2027 school year to develop a model that confirms school attachment. The goal of the work is to support students with high absenteeism in returning to school through individualized learning paths, and to strengthen their well-being and hope for the future. The position is located in the northern area of Oulu. As a special education teacher, you will play a central role as an educator, implementer, and developer of the model. Your work involves supporting young people's educational pathways individually, working closely with guardians and networks, and utilizing feedback-based approaches in evaluating and developing activities. Qualifications are based on the decree 986/1998 on the qualifications of education personnel. Original certificates demonstrating qualifications must be presented during the interview. The position requires a valid special education qualification, good interaction skills, and readiness for multidisciplinary collaboration. We value a solution-oriented approach, interest in developing new practices to support school attendance, and understanding of phenomena related to school absenteeism and youth well-being. Experience and insight into supporting students under the new law, restorative work methods, and experience in emotional and safety skills education are considered an advantage. In your work, you will: - Support young people in their school attendance according to an individual plan, step by step - Build a safe and predictable learning environment - Work closely with young people, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams - Use feedback-based approaches to develop work - Gather an overall picture and advance activities together with the core network - Actively participate in developing the model and practices. This role is not just about implementing a ready-made model — you will help create it. The position includes a trial period. Salary is determined according to the municipal collective agreement for the education sector.
