Your Role and Responsibilities: We are now looking for a new Category Manager to join our team in Distribution Solutions Vaasa. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop, plan, and implement procurement strategy focused on optimizing costs, quality, delivery, and reliability of suppliers and supplied products for an assigned category or group of categories. Each day, you will ensure execution in accordance with company, procurement, and supply base management instructions and procedures. You will also showcase your expertise by recommending frame agreements to management and executing upon approval. Note that the position includes global travel, approximately 30-60 days annually. You can be based at any ABB location in Finland (e.g. Helsinki, Vaasa, Tampere, Porvoo, Turku). The work model for the role is: hybrid. You will be mainly accountable for: Leveraging the Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing process for implementing effective sourcing strategies in line with business strategy and ensuring that the supply base/suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future business requirements focusing on single source components and raw materials (considering the geo-political risks). Negotiate agreements with main suppliers, and periodically renews price lists, and terms and conditions. Ensuring identification, investigation, and selection of appropriate suppliers, raw materials, components, tooling, manufacturers and distributors (focusing on quality, delivery, cost, and sustainability) in accordance with company policies. The categories assigned will be defined later (based on e.g. the education, experience and current needs). The main categories are mechanics, electromechanics, electronic components, EMS and SW licenses. Qualifications for the role: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or similar. Solid experience (3-5 years) in category or commodity management in Supply Chain Management or similar role. Highly skilled in communication, strong negotiation skills and motivation towards working with different types of agreements. Fluency in English, both written and spoken (Finnish skills are seen as an advantage). Knowledge of MS Office with excellent skills in Excel and knowledge of SAP. An analytical, problem solving and results-oriented approach with the capability to make fast decisions. Ability to work with cross functional teams such as R&D, New Product Introduction, quality, production, engineering, SCM, EMS suppliers, distributors. Experience from mechanical engineering and/or from EMS (electronic manufacturing services) business is a strong advantage.
