As an early childhood education teacher, you will be responsible for creating the operational culture and learning environment of your group, planning pedagogical activities, implementing, developing, and evaluating them, and supporting individual learning of children according to Helsinki's early childhood education and pre-school curriculum, the unit’s operational plan, and the child's plan. Qualifications: We require that you have a qualification in early childhood education (540/2018) or a transitional regulation (75 §) qualification, a suitable university of applied sciences degree or a previous equivalent college-level degree, e.g., a kindergarten teacher or social educator degree (Act 272/2005 and Decree 608/2005). Recognition decision from the Finnish National Agency for Education based on foreign education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, we require good spoken and written Finnish skills. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis certificate for working with underage children will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55). When starting a permanent employment as an early childhood education teacher with Helsinki City in 2026, we will offer a 2000 euro incentive. The bonus is paid only once to the same person.
