Job Description As a Project Engineer, you will not perform direct design work, but will act as a technical coordinator and link between designers, logistics, procurement, and the customer. You will be responsible to the Project Manager for the technical success of the electrical and automation (E&A) side in accordance with the contract. What we offer? - Competitive salary: €3,000 – 5,000+ /month based on previous experience and skill level. A salary exceeding €4,000 requires established project expertise and the ability to take independent overall responsibility after product training. - Flexible hybrid work model: The office is located in Vaasa, where we hope you will work for the majority of your working days. For a highly experienced professional, our client is willing to agree on a more flexible remote work arrangement (e.g., from the Tampere or Helsinki region, including regular visits to Vaasa). - Balanced daily life: Working hours are flexible (7.5 h/day) and banked. Although evening calls occur occasionally due to different time zones, working days are kept humane and flexibility works both ways. Tasks - Technical coordination and supervision: You guide and supervise design work, check electrical and automation drawings, and ensure that procurements are made technically correctly. - Customer interface and technical argumentation: You present and defend chosen technical solutions directly to international customers and answer their questions confidently. - Project management: You coordinate project scope from foundations up to medium voltage (MV) (including, among others, motor auxiliaries and motor automation). - Diverse projects: Depending on project size, you manage either several (max. 10) smaller automation updates simultaneously or 1–2 extensive renewal projects for main plants and systems. Required expertise and background Success in this role requires strong technical understanding and the ability to grasp large entities in changing situations. We are not looking for a recent graduate, but for a professional with accumulated experience. - Education: A suitable technical degree for the position (e.g., electrical engineer, automation engineer, MSc (Tech) or Bachelor of Engineering). - Work experience: Approximately 4–5 years (or more) of experience in project business, industrial commissioning, field service, or a power plant environment. - Core technical expertise: Strong expertise in either motor automation or plant automation – the other area can be learned on the job. - Considered an advantage: Experience with battery pack projects, battery concepts, or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) is considered a significant advantage. - Language skills: Fluent oral and written English skills are essential. Finnish language skills are a strong advantage. Other language skills (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, French) are an advantage. - Willingness to travel: Readiness to travel globally to customer sites (estimated 30 travel days per year, mainly trips of about one week). - A category B driver's license is an advantage for site visits. Personality and working style We are looking for a person for the team who has "leadership-type" responsibility and excellent interaction skills. - You are stress-tolerant and understand that the project world changes and evolves daily. - You are a confident expert who dares and knows how to justify technical choices to the customer firmly but constructively. - You operate systematically and conscientiously even when there are several simultaneous projects on the table. - You are a social team player – a tight community spirit and "team-fit" are of paramount importance to us. Application schedule - Interviews with Academic Work: continuously during weeks 28-33. - Customer interviews: Arranged separately for selected candidates on Thursday 20.8. and Friday 21.8.2026. - Decisions and start: Selection decisions will be made by the end of August. The start date can be flexibly agreed for September-October. Our recruitment process Academic Work handles this search on behalf of its client, who requests that all questions regarding the position be directed to Academic Work. Applicants are interviewed continuously, and if we have already progressed further in the recruitment process, we may close the application before final selections. The selection process includes tests measuring personality traits and cognitive ability. The tests serve as tools to find the right person for the role and ensure an equal and fair evaluation.
