Whatever is built in this world must be reliable, now and always. For us, every dream of a home, customer success story and city-sized solution begins with people. Good results come from smart shared choices, made real through our best work and skills. This is how we do more than build well. We build the joy of success and value that lasts. A well-built tomorrow is made together. We are looking for a Design Manager for the building construction business unit. In the building construction unit, you will take part in demanding and multidisciplinary projects throughout Finland. We build, among other things, parking facilities, swimming pools and other sports buildings, rock-space interiors and transport buildings. Our varied and demanding projects offer opportunities to develop your expertise and, as you gain experience, take responsibility for increasingly demanding projects. As Design Manager, you are responsible for project design coordination and design management. You may also participate in project preparation and tendering. You take care of design scheduling and coordination, guide our design partners and work closely with the project parties. Assessing design solutions from the perspectives of costs, constructability and occupational safety is an essential part of the role, and you expect the same from our partners. You work as part of a team of professionals in design management, project development, estimating, procurement and construction. What will help you succeed in the role? - Experience leading a multidisciplinary design team and managing the design process comprehensively. - Experience with design scheduling, using building information models, and assessing constructability and costs. - A higher-education degree suitable for the role. - Fluent Finnish; English language skills are considered an advantage. You make fluent use of digital design-management tools, building information models and project-management systems. You have a good understanding of the interfaces between construction, procurement and production, and of how costs are formed and optimised. Your strong interpersonal and negotiation skills allow you to work naturally with different stakeholders and operate effectively in changing situations. How you succeed at YIT - You understand our customers' needs, and customer value guides your daily work and decision-making. - You work towards goals, take responsibility for your work and deliver it to a high standard. - You take initiative and develop the activities and working methods in your area of responsibility. You learn from experience, share your expertise openly and use what you learn to improve your own and our shared performance. - You work openly with others and treat people with respect. You build trust and psychological safety so that we can succeed together. We value experience in large construction, infrastructure, industrial or data-centre projects, as well as the ability to lead several stakeholders at the same time. You will succeed when you drive design forward purposefully, make decisions in changing situations and combine technical understanding, a business perspective and collaboration for the good of the project. The role involves travel to project sites in Finland according to project needs. What we offer We want you to succeed at work and develop as a professional. At YIT, you can expect: - Opportunities for continuous learning and building your own career path. We support your development at different stages of your career. - Varied and meaningful work where you can see the impact of your contribution on the whole. - Bold leadership that supports you in pursuing clear shared goals and ways of working, coaches you to excel and encourages you to take responsibility. - Flexible working arrangements to make everyday life run smoothly. You combine office and remote work according to your role, and work mainly from the office, approximately three days a week. - We support your wellbeing by providing extensive occupational healthcare and benefits such as a lunch benefit and sports, culture and wellbeing benefits, helping you succeed at work over the long term. - A workplace where professionals want to stay and develop. YIT has been recognised as the construction industry's most desirable employer (Universum 2025). Your team You will join a team that works together with other site personnel in an open environment that encourages collaboration. Sharing expertise and supporting one another are a natural part of everyday work. We want to ensure that you succeed in your role from the start. Clear expectations, open communication and a planned orientation support your start. Your manager supports you in everyday work from the beginning, and regular discussions help you succeed and settle into your new role. A well-built tomorrow is made together—apply to join us. Submit your application by 15 November 2026. We review applications during the application period, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
