We are seeking a full-time, motivated and skilled project manager to cover a maternity leave for the “Resilience is profitable” project. The project aims to increase the adaptability of farms in Pirkanmaa by implementing a training package designed to improve farm-level resilience and to shift farmers’ thinking toward climate actions that benefit themselves. The project has been running for over two years; about half of the total €445,000 funding remains. We assess funding sufficiency and substitution through late 2027. The project manager will design, implement and administer project activities and coordinate the training package. The goal is to quickly develop and articulate what farm-level resilience means and operationalize the knowledge. The project manager will also identify actions that increase resilience and provide additional revenue for farms while reducing production costs. Success relies on strong communication and the project manager’s personality. This work cannot be done from office alone – your playground is the whole Pirkanmaa region. You should have broad perspective and knowledge of farming, climate actions and resilience; experience in planning and delivering trainings, and ability to act as trainer when needed; initiative and teamwork with experts; strong communication skills across channels; and professional oral and written presentation skills. A minimum of a vocational school-level qualification is required. You will have the opportunity to significantly influence the sustainable development and resilience of farms in the region, and to develop your own skills while leading domestic and international study trips related to the project. You will not walk the project alone; you will be supported by MTK-Pirkanmaa’s experienced staff and leadership and our broad network. The salary for the project manager is approximately €3,500–€4,100 per month depending on experience and qualifications. The role offers modern tools and a professional environment. It is a self-directed position with travel, office and remote work; a personal car is required. Most events take place in the evenings. Our office is located at the Maa- ja Metsätalo in Tampere, where you can also network with MTK’s central federation staff. The role provides a broad view on farm and forestry and rural entrepreneurship. The position is fixed-term and ends when project funding ends. Start date can be as soon as possible, but preferably by 1 October 2026. If you are interested, please send a short application, salary expectations and CV to visa.merikoski@mtk.fi by 28 August 2026. For information about the position, contact CEO Visa Merikoski (p. 050 1514). Join us to build a more sustainable and resilient future for Pirkanmaa farms!
