Join us in building the infrastructure of tomorrow! We are looking for an Environmental Manager to take responsibility for the leadership, coordination, supervision, and documentation of environmental matters in our data center project, while supporting the responsible and compliant execution of the projects. The projects will begin in early 2027 and are located in Northern Ostrobothnia and elsewhere in Northern Finland. The role involves travel-based work, and work will take place at project sites according to their location. In the future, sites may also be located elsewhere in Finland depending on project needs. What kind of role and team would you be joining? As an Environmental Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of environmental matters on site and act as the environmental expert as part of the project organization. In your role, you will work together with the project team to ensure that construction progresses in accordance with environmental requirements, permit conditions, client requirements, and project objectives. You will work closely with site managers, project management, supervisors, designers, subcontractors, environmental specialists, authorities, and client representatives. The role combines practical knowledge of the site environment, environmental management, and control of reporting and documentation. Your key responsibilities • Leading, coordinating, and developing environmental matters in the data center project • Ensuring compliance with environmental permits, authority requirements, client obligations, and project-specific environmental objectives • Organizing environmental inspections, site walks, and supervision at worksites, as well as documenting and reporting observations • Identifying environmental risks, managing them proactively, and coordinating corrective actions • Managing environmental documentation, monitoring, reporting, and handover materials • Guiding site personnel and subcontractors and implementing environmental practices across the projects • Cooperating with project management and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of environmental matters • Continuously developing safety, environmental, and quality practices as part of project management The role emphasizes both practical environmental management on site and responsibilities related to reporting and documentation. The role can be further tailored according to your experience and strengths, but in practice it combines on-site supervision with comprehensive management of environmental matters. The employment is permanent. This role requires willingness to travel and active movement between project sites. If you work at a project site away from your home location, we will reimburse travel expenses, daily allowances, and accommodation costs in accordance with the company’s travel policy. Watch the video below to hear your future colleagues share their experiences working on site! Learn more about Destia’s services on our website! How can you succeed best in this role? At Destia, everything we do is guided by our values: fairness, togetherness, renewal and success. For us, safety is demonstrated through actions, not just words. At Destia, you will thrive when you know how to make safety an integral part of everyday choices, interactions and decisions. To succeed in this role, you will have: • A relevant university degree or higher education qualification (e.g. environmental engineering, Environmental Engineer UAS, Master of Science in Engineering, or other suitable education) • Experience working with environmental matters in construction, infrastructure, industrial, or other demanding project environments • Understanding of environmental requirements at worksites, the application of permit conditions, and environmental risk management • A careful, systematic, and proactive way of working • Strong documentation, reporting, and coordination skills • Willingness to work both on site and in an office environment • Good cooperation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders • Good English skills We value a practical approach to the site environment, the ability to lead environmental matters proactively, and the desire to develop project sustainability together with the rest of the organization. You will succeed in this role when you can combine on-site observation, ensuring compliance, and high-quality documentation as part of the daily project work. We offer you a responsible role in significant data center projects, the support of a skilled team, and the opportunity to influence the development of environmental practices in a growing and technically demanding operating environment. What we promise at Destia At Destia, you get to do meaningful work that impacts people’s everyday lives. We build and maintain infrastructure throughout its lifecycle together with experts from various fields in teams where everyone’s contribution matters. With us, you can develop your expertise and shape your career path in your own direction, including internationally as part of the Colas Group. We want everyone to feel welcome at Destia, regardless of their background. We treat each other equally and with respect and believe that the best solutions emerge when people can be themselves at work and bring different perspectives to the table. Through our everyday actions, we take responsibility for people, the environment and society. For us, sustainability is reflected in how we work, how we care for one another, and how we develop infrastructure that serves people far into the future. Most importantly, we want these commitments to be reflected in Destia employees' everyday experiences. Read more about our sustainability work and the way we operate on our website. Interested?
