The Northern Early Childhood Education Area has an open substitute position for a resource special education teacher in early childhood education for the period August 17 – December 18, 2026. For the autumn, the position will likely be located at Suikkila Kindergarten. A special education teacher acting as a resource participates in the development of pedagogical activities and serves as an expert in growth and learning support at the kindergarten agreed upon within their area. The resource can be focused on one or a few children's groups at a time. The resource special education teacher acts as a co-teacher or joint teacher with the group teacher, planning, implementing, and evaluating the group's pedagogical activities. They implement individual and small-group instruction as part-time special education as needed. If necessary, they provide full-time special education for children who require it. In the role of a resource special education teacher, you will receive collegial support from the kindergarten's and the area's special education teachers. Peer mentoring and supervision are used to support professional growth and well-being at work. The kindergarten where the resource special education teacher is placed is determined approximately every six months based on the support needs occurring in the area. Eligibility requirements are determined according to Section 30 of the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018). Eligibility requirements for special education teacher positions in early childhood education are: 1) eligibility for the position of early childhood education teacher, in addition to which studies providing professional qualifications for special education positions, as prescribed by government decree, have been completed; or 2) a Master of Education with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education teacher training). The person selected for the position must provide the employer with a criminal record extract as referred to in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (Act on the Verification of the Criminal Background of Persons Working with Children 504/2002).
