Tampere City operates six daytime upper secondary schools and one adult education centre, educating around 4,600 prospective graduates. The evolving upper secondary education system employs 340 skilled staff dedicated to shaping students’ futures. In addition to a high-quality and varied general education offering, the city’s upper secondary schools provide five special educational tasks: art and design, sports, natural sciences, music and musical theatre, and English-language IB teaching. There are also other curriculum-focused strands such as mathematics & technology, communication, social studies, skate, and Finnish/English bilingual tracks. English-language upper secondary education began at Pyynikki Upper Secondary School on 1 August 2026. We are seeking a fixed-term, full-time music teacher for a substitute period from 30 September 2026 to 12 February 2027. As a full-time music teacher at Tampere Technical High School, your duties include teaching music to our students; directing the school choir and band activities; and taking overall responsibility for music performances at school events. The role requires strong subject mastery in line with the new curriculum, music technology competencies, good interaction and collaboration skills, and a willingness to develop and grow. The teaching obligation may include co-teaching and online instruction. Eligibility is determined according to the Decree on teacher qualifications 986/1998. Preference is given to practical knowledge of sound and lighting technology and prior teaching experience at upper secondary level. Before taking up the position, the selected candidate must present a criminal background check pursuant to section 6(2) of the Criminal Records Act. An probation period applies for fixed-term contracts, which in shorter-term appointments may be up to half of the contract duration. Salary is in accordance with OVTES. Salary consists of a post-specific pay, an annual increment, and any additional salary supplements.
