Social Services Professional in Child Protection Residential Care – Himaharju Oy, Kiuruvesi MediPower is recruiting a social services professional for a permanent, full-time position in child protection residential care at Himaharju Oy in Kiuruvesi. The work begins by agreement, and this is a direct recruitment to Himaharju’s employment. Job duties You will work with children and young people aged 8–17 in child protection residential care. The work is mainly in two shifts and includes varied care and educational work and supporting the children’s and young people’s everyday lives. The work includes, among other things: - Supporting children’s and young people’s everyday lives, growth and development - A rehabilitative approach and implementing the principles of an inclusive everyday life - Assisting and supporting schoolwork - Cooperation with families - Written tasks and documentation - Working as part of a multidisciplinary work community We are looking for We are looking for a social services professional with a completed university of applied sciences degree who is interested in child protection residential care and ready to commit to permanent, full-time work. We particularly value: - Previous work experience in child protection residential care - Understanding the needs of child protection clients - Sufficient work and life experience to work independently in a demanding operating environment - Good teamwork and interaction skills - Strong interpersonal skills - A developmental, inclusive and attentive approach to work A criminal record extract for working with children is required for the position. Success in the role requires readiness to work independently in a demanding operating environment. Previous experience in social services, particularly child protection residential care, and sufficient life experience are considered important advantages. It is a private child welfare institution with 21 places, intended for school-age children and young people. Himaharju’s Main House, Elinantalo and Uusitalo units, as well as three training apartments, are located on the Harju farm about 17 kilometres from the centre of Kiuruvesi. Aftercare support apartments are located in Kiuruvesi and Iisalmi. Himaharju’s areas of strong expertise include child and adolescent psychiatry, neuropsychiatry and working with clients with mild intellectual disabilities. Over the years, the organisation has also gained experience working with multicultural clients and clients with an immigrant background.
