The Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences invite applications for two postdoctoral researcher positions in the Good News from Academia research project. The project, funded by the Academy of Finland, investigates the everyday, meaningful academic work and seeks to describe it beyond the extremes of highlight-reel science or hardship narratives. Postdoctoral researchers will work as part of the Good News from Academia research group within the Faculty of Management and Economics at Tampere University, in the Administrative Sciences research group. Duties include designing research, collecting data, conducting analyses, and writing publications in collaboration with the research team. The precise research topics will be defined by the project goals and the candidates’ research interests. The role may involve teaching and other tasks up to 10 percent of annual hours. Requirements include a doctoral degree from a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, political science, public administration, anthropology, cultural studies, education or related), ability to work independently with active collaboration in a research group, understanding of academic work and science policy is a plus, and experience of international settings is beneficial. The university emphasizes values such as openness, critical thinking, diversity, learner-centeredness, courage, culture, and responsibility. Compensation will follow the Finnish universities’ job classification levels 5–6, with a mid-career supplement possible. Typical starting salary is around 4000–4200 € per month. The appointment starts 1 November 2026 or as agreed, with a maximum end date of 31 August 2028 (for the first postdoc) or 31 August 2027 (for the second). The contract includes a probationary period. Applicants should submit a motivation letter, CV, publication list, a sample of scientific writing, and a research plan (1–3 pages). An interview will be held after the deadline.
