Support worker - development disability housing unit

We are seeking a dedicated support worker for a permanent position at Pihlajakoti in Turenki, Janakkala. Pihlajakoti is a cosy 24/7 residential unit for people with disabilities, where the residents’ well-being, participation, and autonomy are valued. We operate with a rehabilitative and strength-based approach, tailoring our care to each resident’s individual needs and strengths. As a support worker you assist residents in their daily life and daily activities, provide medication administration, and support wellbeing and functioning. You will also participate in care planning and development together with a multi-professional team. You succeed when you meet people with warmth, respect, and genuine presence. We hope you are positive, cooperative and development-oriented, able to work as part of a team and independently when needed. Prior experience with developmental disability or autism care and knowledge of augmentative/alternative communication methods are an advantage, but the most important is an enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn. At Pihlajakoti you will not be alone; you will have support from a skilled, caring and humorous work community. Our diverse team includes 11 carers and a nurse and a deputy head. Eligibility includes a social and health care sector basic degree or equivalent, registration in the social and health care professionals register, and a valid medication administration license which can be updated or completed at the start of employment. A hygiene passport is required. Employees working with the elderly and disabled must present a police certificate as required by the Act on Background Check (741/2023) and related regulations. Salary: €2,670.99 per month with an experience-based increase of 0–8%. The pay is governed by the SOTE collective agreement. The probation period is six months.
