We are looking for a System Architect to define and drive the technical architecture of complex embedded product solutions for our industrial, energy, ICT, defence and medical customers. This senior leadership role sits at the intersection of electronics, mechanics and embedded software design. You will own the system-level view that turns these disciplines into coherent, manufacturable, certifiable products and act as the technical anchor for our most demanding customer engagements, from early concept through delivery. Key Responsibilities - Define end-to-end system architecture, including requirements decomposition, interfaces and trade-off decisions across hardware, software and mechanics. - Lead make/buy and platform-vs-custom decisions and maintain architecture documentation and technical governance. - Shape solution concepts with sales and business development during scoping and proposal phases. - Translate customer needs and business requirements into practical architectural solutions. - Act as a trusted technical advisor in customer workshops and steering meetings. - Coordinate across disciplines to ensure architectural integrity, and mitigate system-level risks early, including integration, EMC, thermal, safety and certification risks. - Support project managers and department heads with technical planning and design reviews and mentor senior engineers across disciplines. - Contribute to technology roadmaps and reusable platform strategies, tracking trends such as embedded AI, edge computing and connected product security. Required Qualifications - 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development, including system-level architecture responsibility. - Proven track record architecting products that integrate multiple disciplines (electronics, mechanics and/or embedded software) with strong hardware/software co-design skills. - Experience in a technical leadership or principal engineer role within an engineering consultancy or product company. - Excellent communication skills with both engineering teams and customer stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications - Experience developing products for multiple industries, such as industrial, medical, energy, ICT or defense. - Familiarity with relevant standards and regulatory frameworks (functional safety, medical device, defense, or industrial, as applicable). - Experience with embedded AI and edge inference architectures. - Fluent in Finnish and English. What We Offer - A technical leadership role with broad influence across our product solution portfolio. - Exposure to diverse industries and cutting-edge embedded challenges. - A strong multi-disciplinary engineering team, plus project management. - Competitive compensation and benefits, with a flexible hybrid working model based in Finland. At Etteplan we ensure that your compensation is fair and transparent. Your salary reflects your competencies and contributions, in line with our way of working. For this role, the typical monthly salary is 6000-7200€/month, depending on your background. Please submit your application through our recruitment system by 8 November at the latest.
