Chef, come create the flavours of Saimaa at Sahanlahti! Sahanlahti Resort is a family-owned, year-round destination on the shore of Lake Saimaa in Puumala. Guests come for good food, comfortable accommodation, lakeside nature and warm encounters. Our guests include holidaymakers, celebration groups and corporate groups from Finland and around the world. We want everyone to feel welcome and leave with a reason to return. Food is at the heart of Sahanlahti. In our kitchen, local food means nearby producers, seasonal ingredients and making things by hand. Our plates feature fish from nearby lakes, mushrooms and berries from the forests, and the best produce from nearby farms. We value the origins of our ingredients, clear flavours and careful craftsmanship. Our three distinct restaurants—the scenic Koskivahti, open-fire restaurant Pajapirtti and summer restaurant Rantamakasiini—offer a varied setting for a chef’s work. Pajapirtti’s open-fire dinner was selected as Finland’s best food tourism product in the Hungry for Finland food tourism competition in 2026. We are proud of this achievement and want to keep developing our food offering together with a skilled team. We are now looking for a chef who takes pride in their profession. We hope you have at least five years of experience as a chef and are enthusiastic about food, the restaurant industry and our approach based on local food. You want to learn new things, develop your skills and contribute your ideas to our work together. You can plan and carry out your work independently and be part of a team. Organisation and cleanliness are especially important to us: you keep your workstation in order, anticipate what is coming and make sure everyday kitchen work runs smoothly even when things get busy. We value good cooperation, a responsible approach to work and fair treatment of colleagues. Work changes with the seasons At Sahanlahti, duties and the size of the work community vary with the seasons. In summer, around 15 people work in our kitchen team. In winter, you will be part of a three-person kitchen team, with extra help added when needed. You will contribute to preparing food for our restaurants and events, from preparation work to finishing dishes. Independence and managing the whole process are important in the small winter team, while summer calls for cooperation with a larger team. Good flavours, careful work and pride in your work are shared throughout the year. We offer varied work with local food, the opportunity to develop your skills and a chance to help create Sahanlahti’s food experiences. Quality work and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere belong in the same kitchen. Puumala offers room for a good everyday life Alongside the scenery and nature of Saimaa, Puumala offers practical advantages: free early childhood education, a low municipal tax rate, and rental and owner-occupied homes that are readily available. There is room here to live, enjoy your hobbies and feel at home after work too. The start date will be agreed flexibly, but no later than February 2027. Interested? Tell us about yourself, your experience and what inspires you about cooking. Welcome to make good food and build a good everyday life at Sahanlahti!
