Lecturer in Finnish and English

As the language team grows, we are looking for a lecturer in Finnish and English for a permanent position starting on 1 January 2027 or by agreement. The primary workplaces are the Pori and Rauma campuses. We are seeking a language lecturer whose duties include teaching Finnish and English to university of applied sciences students. Teaching is delivered in Finnish and English during daytime and evening hours. The selected lecturer will work in the Languages and Communication unit, which is responsible for SAMK’s language teaching and its development. In this role, you can promote students’ readiness for internationalisation and contribute to the development of future professionals. Other duties include: - Guiding language studies in addition to organising teaching - Tutoring students - Developing courses, assessment and learning environments together with the language team - Teaching professional communication in addition to languages We expect you to have: - A relevant master’s-level degree - The ability to work in a digital environment - A student-centred approach - Readiness to teach at different campuses (Pori and Rauma), online and in the evenings - Readiness and willingness to teach professional communication - Fluent Finnish and English - Previous experience teaching Finnish and English - 60 ECTS of teacher pedagogical qualification completed, or readiness to obtain it within three years of appointment - Constructive teamwork skills and active self-development - An innovative approach that takes SAMK’s strategic goals into account We also value interest in project work, a development-oriented approach and good interaction skills. General eligibility requirements for the position are determined by Government Decree 1129/2014 on universities of applied sciences. The terms of employment and pay follow the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences. The lecturer’s salary is €3,686–€5,460 per month, depending on pedagogical qualification, education and qualifying work experience.
