Lightning AI is hiring for a Compensation Specialist to own our compensation philosophy, equity design, and the models and tools the business runs on. You will run annual and off-cycle compensation planning, benchmark against peers using data sources such as Radford, Pave, OpenComp, and Levels.fyi, and build the tooling and dashboards that empower cross‑functional teams to make informed decisions. You will develop offer decisioning and leveling guidance, ensure pay equity, and surface retention risks through reporting. The role requires 3+ years in compensation or a closely related quantitative function, strong modeling and analytics skills, and experience with market data benchmarking. The base salary range is $160,000 - $180,000 USD per year, with a comprehensive benefits package and a hybrid/office-based working model. What you’ll do: own the compensation and equity models and the cycles of compensation planning; translate market data into actionable guidance; build tools for offer decisions and performance cycles; support calibration and retention analyses; build dashboards for pay equity and competitiveness. What we’re looking for: 3+ years in compensation or related field; proven ability to drive compensation planning; strong modeling skills; experience benchmarking with market data; cross-functional collaboration. Nice to have: background in AI, cloud/infrastructure, or data centers; private vs public equity modeling experience; experience in a rapidly scaling, pre-IPO environment.
