We are recruiting a Deputy Chief Dentist for a permanent public-service position starting on 7 January 2027 or by agreement. Kainuu wellbeing services county’s oral health services employ about 120 people, including around 40 dentists. More than half of them work in the dental clinics in Kajaani and Sotkamo. As Deputy Chief Dentist, you will lead the general dental practitioners in the Sotkamo and Kajaani units and act as manager for 25–30 colleagues. You will deputise for the Chief Dentist and promote staff wellbeing. You will develop dentists’ skills and good practices, and take part in financial planning. The role includes clinical patient work for 2–3 days a week at a reception in Kajaani or Sotkamo. The schedule and structure of these days can be arranged as flexibly as possible. Emergency services during office hours and weekends are provided by the county’s own staff, and there is no shortage of dentists. Eligibility requires a licensed dentist. You must have the vaccination protection required under section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act. A specialist qualification as a supervising dentist is considered an advantage. We expect you to have experience in supervisory work, knowledge of employment matters, a proactive approach and good collaboration skills. Apply electronically through kuntarekry.fi. Applications must arrive by 15:00 on 13 November 2026. The probationary period is six months. Employees may be tested for drugs.
